Terms and Conditions
By booking or attending a session, class or workshop and by using any of our services you are deemed to have read, understood and accepted our Terms and Conditions. Pau Pottery, ceramic studio may at any time modify these Terms and Conditions as deemed necessary. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are familiar with the current Terms and Conditions. It is your responsibility to inform us in advance of any allergies or special requirements. We reserve the right to cancel or change the date of a course where necessary or it is impractical for a course to run.
Payments
All payments should be made in full at the time of booking. We can not confirm your place until we receive full payment. Our teachers and materials are booked and purchased in advance according to bookings. All classes and courses will state on their listing what is included as part of the cost you pay. Anything that is not included in your pottery class or course that you want to purchase will be charged accordingly.
For painting on ceramic sessions, the studio fee is payable when you book. Your studio fee does not cover the cost of individual pottery items that you paint during your session.
Gift Cards
Gift vouchers are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash. However, they are fully transferable, so if you’re unable to attend your course, you’re welcome to contact us to arrange an alternative participant. Gift vouchers are valid for one year from the date of purchase and can be redeemed towards any eligible pottery class or experience.
Health and Safety
Students use the studio at their own risk and must be aware of the inherent hazards of a working in a pottery studio environment. These risks include the use of sharp tools, exposure to chemicals and high temperatures amongst other things.
All students should wear appropriate clothing and comfortable, flat shoes with non-slip soles and covered toes. Casual clothing is recommended. Long hair must be tied back for wheel work and jewellery and watches are best left at home. Please note that we are not liable for any damage that occurs to clothing or loss of valuables. All of our students will receive a short briefing on health and safety before commencing their session.
We do require that all students read and abide by the terms of our Student Contract.
Technical Issues and Breakage
The Studio is equipped with a high quality kiln and equipment. Experienced and trained staff will handle and fire your ceramic work. However, by the nature of ceramics unfortunately there always remains a risk of technical failure and/or breakage of the pieces for which the Studio and trained staff cannot be held responsible.
Collection of your Work
FOR POTTERY MAKING, it takes between 3 to 5 weeks for the pieces to be ready for collection after the class. It can sometimes take longer depending on our kiln firing schedule and the weather conditions (for example in the winter months pieces might take longer to dry). We will keep your pieces for 2 weeks after we have contacted you to collect. After this time your pieces will be either donated or disposed of.
FOR POTTERY PAINTING, we aim to have your work ready for collection within 2 weeks time from your workshop. We will hold your pottery for 2 weeks after we have contacted you to collect.
Cancellation by You
All cancellations must be sent by email to info@paupottery.co.uk
- If you cancel with at least two weeks notice from the session date, a full refund will be issued.
- If you cancel with between five days – two weeks notice from the session date, the session will be transferred up to the same value (subject to availability), but no refund will be offered.
- If you cancel within five working days of a booked session no refund will be given and a booking transfer will not be possible.
Cancellation by Us
We reserve the right to cancel or make changes to any courses, workshops or one-off sessions.
If we cancel your course or session for any reason, we will do our best to organise an alternative date within a reasonable period of time. If this is not possible, or you are unable to attend an alternative date, we will refund the full purchase price.
Hiring the Kiln
Pau Pottery Studio operates a 300-litre top-loading Rohde kiln. We offer individual firing services for both earthenware and stoneware pieces; however, we do require a direct link to the clay and/or glaze you are using to ensure compatibility and safe firing.
£20 per half shelf for bisque firing.
£25 per half shelf for stoneware firing.
£120 for bisque whole kiln firing.
£150 for stoneware whole kiln firing.
which covers electricity, wear and tear, and my time.
Your work must be bone dry and ready to fire when brought into the studio. Anything that is not bone dry can explode in the kiln, therefore we reserve the right to not accept work for firing.
Turn around time for work can be anything between one week and several weeks, depending on how busy the studio is.
If your work is particularly delicate or awkward in size/shape, you will be required to help us load the kiln and to handle your pieces.
If your work damages any of our shelves, you will be charged for a replacement. The current charge for this is £80 per semi circle shelf.
If your work damages our brickwork, elements or hardware, you will be charged for the full cost of repair.
We do not accept responsibility if your work is damaged during the firing process.
Absolutely no air dry clay. Check your packaging!
If you want to use our kiln, you must understand and agree to our terms and will be required to sign an agreement when you hand over your work. Kilns are extremely expensive and without them, our studio would not be able to function. We take great care to look after our kilns, so expect anyone who uses them to respect them, therefore the materials you use are the most important aspect to us accepting your work.
