Private Pottery Lessons
Looking for a unique experience or the perfect gift? Our private pottery lessons are a fantastic way to spend time with friends, family or someone special. Whether you're celebrating a birthday, planning a date, or simply fancy trying something new, we'll tailor the session just for you. No experience is needed – our private lessons are perfect for complete beginners!
Who can book?
Private lessons are available for:
- Individuals
- Couples
- Friends
- Families
- Groups of up to 6 people
What choices are there?
You can choose to:
- Try the potter's wheel only
- Enjoy a hand-building session
- Or, if you book 3 hours or longer, experience both throwing on the wheel and hand-building.
When are lessons available?
Private lessons are usually available during the week and on selected weekends.
What's included?
- Your own dedicated pottery teacher
- Clay and all materials
- Glazing of your finished pieces
- Two kiln firings
- All the preparation and finishing work carried out by us after your session!
What can I make?
Are there any age restrictions?
Your private workshop is led by one of our experienced pottery teachers, who will guide you step-by-step throughout the session.
- Potter's Wheel
Throwing on the wheel is great fun and incredibly rewarding! It can be a little tricky at first, but we'll guide you through every stage of the process. Most people manage to make a pot with a little help, and even if your first attempt isn't perfect, it's all part of the experience.
- Hand-building
Hand-building is a wonderful introduction to pottery and is often easier for beginners. We'll teach you the skills and then you use your creativity and imagination to create something unique.
Private lessons are suitable for ages 8 and over. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult.
When can I collect the ceramics?
Your finished pottery will be ready to collect within 4 weeks after your lesson.
How do I book a private session?
Please email us with:
- Your preferred date(s)
- How many people will be attending
- Whether everyone would like to have a go on the potter's wheel
Lessons can be booked for 1 hour, 2 hours or 3 hours, with 2 hours being the most popular choice, giving you enough time to explore more than one technique.
We have 6 potter's wheels available.
Prices
Private lessons are priced per person and are based on a minimum booking of two people.
For bookings of two or more people, the rates are:
- First hour: £60 per person
- Second hour: Additional £40 per person
- Third hour: Additional £30 per person
For one-to-one private lessons, the rate is £60 per hour.
